The Indonesian government in tackling the Coronavirus Diseases 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has made various efforts to prevent the transmission of the virus, one of which is by vaccinating against COVID-19. The COVID-19 vaccination began at the beginning of 2021 and is planned to be completed within 15 months, namely in March 2022. This vaccination is carried out twice, and the time interval for injecting doses 1 and 2 of the vaccine is 3 weeks to 1 month depending on the type of vaccine injected.

The COVID-19 Handling Task Force emphasises that the function of COVID-19 vaccination is to prevent transmission or to prevent someone who is already infected from experiencing bad symptoms due to infection with the virus.

PT Kimia Farma Tbk, in an effort to help accelerate the formation of herd immunity to COVID-19, also held a gotong royong vaccination programme, or VGR for short. Acting. Agus Chandra, President Director of Kimia Farma Diagnostika (KFD), a subsidiary of PT Kimia Farma Tbk, said that this individual VGR aims to accelerate vaccination. This is because the COVID-19 pandemic is increasingly worrying in Indonesia. The vaccine used in this Individual VGR is the Sinopharm vaccine. This vaccine is different from the government vaccine programme vaccine which uses the Sinovac and AstraZeneca types.

In line with this, PT Kimia Farma Tbk as a donor of Karya Salemba Empat Foundation collaborated in conducting this vaccination programme for several KSE partner campuses, namely: Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, Andalas University, and Mulawarman University. The targets of this activity are students and the general public around the campus.

The third vaccination activity was carried out at Andalas University, Padang City, West Sumatra on 18 November 2021, at 08.00 WIB until 15.00 WIB. The vaccination location is located in the Convention Hall building, Andalas University.

The UNAND KSE scholarship association as the implementer of this activity, conducted pre-activity socialisation to disseminate information about this activity to residents around the campus and obtained approximately 214 vaccine targets. During the activity, there were 61 vaccine targets who registered directly (on the spot).

Vice chancellor III for Student Affairs of Andalas University; Dr Yusdial, SH, MM gave his appreciation for the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination at UNAND. In his remarks, he said "For now, the city of Padang is included in PPKM level 2 with a vaccination coverage of more than 50%. Most of the academic community of the Andalas University campus has vaccinated, although there are some who have not been vaccinated. We give our highest appreciation to PT Kimia Farma Tbk and Karya Salemba Empat, who have helped the government, especially the city of Padang and the Andalas University Campus, in accelerating vaccination coverage to break the COVID-19 chain."

In the vaccination activity, there was also a symbolic handover of 500 doses of vaccine from PT Kimia Farma Tbk to the community and students represented by the Vice Rector III for Student Affairs of Andalas University.

Residents were very enthusiastic when vaccinating, from registering to giving gifts. The gifts given during this vaccination activity are in the form of basic necessities, vitamins, and masks. The vaccination process went smoothly and as expected, where the organisers could coordinate the vaccine participants in an orderly and organized manner. There were no complex matters that became obstacles for the committee so that the vaccine process could run according to the recommendations of the health protocol. Acceptors are asked to sit in a distance, and wear a mask. Queue neatly and can be directed by the committee. Vaccine participants took less than 30 minutes to get a certificate.
